Customized Training Options

Safeguards continues to meet the current and emerging training needs of agencies by strengthening their capacity to provide necessary services for the people of Ontario.

Safeguards has produced numerous training topics over the past decade
and developed a large team of high-quality trainers. Lengthy waiting lists
and requests for previously-produced training demanded solutions. In
turn, Safeguards developed four innovative customized training delivery options (see below) to suit the training needs of differing agencies and communities across the Province.

1) Regional Training

Safeguards introduces a new Regional Training Program in September and January designed to meet the highly specialized training needs of staff serving vulnerable children, youth, adults and families in Ontario. The Ministry of Community and Social Services and Ministry of Children and Youth Services funds the regional training program related to issues of abuse such as prevention, assessment, treatment, effects and related workplace issues. Training locations are chosen in response to agency and regional priorities.

2) In-Service Training

A number of agencies contract Safeguards to provide in-service training to address specific training needs of staff and foster parents. For a larger group this option is more cost effective as it reduces travel, accommodation and backfill costs.

3) Community-Based Training

Some agencies like the benefits of in-service training but don't have enough staff to merit the cost. If your agency would like to host training in your community or share the cost with other agencies, Safeguards can help co-ordinate training to meet your specific needs.

4) Online Training

Safeguards has started offering some online training in order to make Professional Development as easily accessible as possible to every community. Save time and money and train from the comfort of your home or office. Participants benefit from a comprehensive education, plentiful resources, and on-going discussion with peers and trainers.
